Our story

Born from the spirit of aloha

Chuki's Grill brings the bold, smoky flavors of Hawaiian BBQ to the heart of Oregon — slow-cooked with tradition, served with love.

From the islands to Oregon

Chuki's Grill started with a simple dream: share the food that brings people together in Hawaii. Growing up surrounded by the aromas of kalua pork slow-roasting in an imu, garlic shrimp sizzling on roadside plates, and loco moco piled high at family gatherings — food was never just fuel. It was connection.

When we landed in Oregon, we brought those recipes with us. Every plate we serve is a tribute to the Hawaiian tradition of feeding people generously — big portions, bold flavors, and the kind of warmth that makes you feel at home no matter where you're from.

Today, Chuki's Grill has two locations in the Columbia River Gorge — Troutdale and Welches — serving the community the same way we always have: with aloha on every plate.

Aloha

The Hawaiian spirit of love, peace, and compassion — on every plate.

The Hawaiian BBQ tradition

Hawaiian BBQ is more than a cooking style — it's a cultural institution rooted in the diverse immigrant communities that shaped the islands.

Kalua pork

Traditionally cooked in an underground imu oven for hours, kalua pork is the centerpiece of any Hawaiian luau. We honor that tradition with slow-cooked, smoky pulled pork that falls apart with every bite.

Plate lunch culture

The Hawaiian plate lunch — two scoops of rice, macaroni salad, and a protein — was born from the plantation era when workers from Japan, Korea, China, and the Philippines shared their food. It's the ultimate comfort meal.

Garlic shrimp

Made famous by the shrimp trucks of Oahu's North Shore, garlic shrimp scampi is a Hawaiian roadside legend. Buttery, garlicky, and impossible to stop eating.

Loco moco

A Hawaiian invention — rice topped with a hamburger patty, fried egg, and rich brown gravy. Simple, hearty, and deeply satisfying. A true local favorite.
